Stand out and show them what you’ve got.
In a world where the competition regularly claims to be #1, it’s difficult to differentiate and build your own identity. Standing out from your competition is critical to your company’s success, but if you are unique and creative with your strategy then achieving success is possible.
Two weeks ago, my #MBBizTip was all about the key to effective selling and had you identifying what your ‘unique selling proposition’ (USP) was. It had you thinking about what made you different from everyone else in your industry and what would make your business stand out in a world of competitors.
This week’s tip/challenge is two-step processes. Step one is for you to identify 10 things that are unique or special about your business (if you have this list from 2 weeks ago then you’ve already nailed step one!)
If you need some help to write these tips, then consider this:
-What do I do that no one else does?
-What is unique about my business?
-What is my unique story? (e.g. product selection, service standards, staff training)
-How can this be made different from my competitors?
Then consider your customers:
-What does the customer want?
-What needs or want are they really trying to satisfy?
-What is the main reason my customers buy from me?
-What can I do to match or exceed those expectations?
-What can I do to make sure the customer gets what they want?
Step two of this week’s tip is where the value comes from this list (and why you are going to be glad you took the time out two weeks ago to make it). Identify how many of these things appear on your website or on your other marketing collateral.
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
Get out there, know what makes you unique and communicate it, tell your clients why they need to choose you!
